In the wake of the unprecedented acceleration in the number of new corona virus infections in Qatar as a result of the failed policies of Emir Tamim Bin Hamad and his government that have turned Doha into the epicenter of the corona pandemic, there are now more than 50,000 confirmed infections, although the authorities have been discreet about the number of real infections.
A report by Qatari opposition website Qatarileaks showed that Qatar now has one of the highest infection rates in the world after the number exceeded the 50,000 mark.
This was confirmed earlier by the Indian Business Standard newspaper, which revealed that Qatar has become the country with the most infections per capita, surpassing both the United States and Italy, according to the Qatari opposition.
According to experts and international newspapers, Qatar Airways, headed by Akbar Al-Baker, bears the largest responsibility for the rapid outbreak of the virus in the country, as it sought its own interests and ignored the interests of the Qatari people, continuing to operate its flights since the outbreak of the crisis.
The opposition report added that when Iran was classified as the epicenter of the pandemic in the Middle East region, Qatar Airways was flying to and from both Tehran and Qom, bringing the virus from there to Qatar, and it did not even adhere to preventive safety measures to avoid an outbreak.
As a result of the situation caused by the Qatar Airways, the government lost many of its projects and infrastructure projects were halted due to the outbreak of the virus among workers in the industrial zone, where the poor health conditions and deteriorated living conditions fueled the spread of the virus.
Qatari citizens have demanded that the airline should be held responsible for the economic situation that has affected their lives, noting that Al-Baker only cared about his company’s interests.
The report concluded that all official statistics confirm that about 90% of those working for Qatar Airways are Asian nationals, who in turn mixed with other workers and employees during their return.
According to experts, this makes Qatar Airways and its crews a means for transmitting the virus to and from Qatar, which experts in the medical field believe could be a major reason for the increase in infections during the coming period, pointing out that the announced figures may reach more than 100,000 cases during the next thirty days.
