UAE keeps offering support in fight against Covid-19

The United Arab Emirates continues to provide support to other countries so that they can get over the challenges posed by Covid-19.

The Arab country pursues a policy of providing humanitarian support to help these countries in the fight against the disease that has so far killed 407,000 people around the world and infected 7.2 million others.

Billions of people are locked up inside their countries also because of the disease.

Medical and humanitarian supplies

The United Arab Emirates provided support to over 730,000 healthcare workers in more than 64 countries.

The United Arab Emirates embassy in Washington was the earliest to offer support to the Children’s National Hospital in Washington. The hospital opened the first center for Covid-19 tests for children in the US.

The embassy also provided 200,000 test kits, with a total value of $20 million, to the largest testing center in Las Vegas. This support helped the center conduct Covid-19 tests for thousands of people from the city.

The United Arab Emirates also offered support to world-famous chef José Andrés who runs the World Central Kitchen and distributes 50,000 hot meals to the needy around the world.

It offered support to Feed the Fight organization which crowd sources individual donations to fund food delivery from local restaurants and their staff to nearby health care workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Helping hand

The United Arab Emirates has not stopped providing support to other countries since the Covid-19 disease appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the United Arab Emirates has so far offered 730 tons of medical supplies to other countries.

These supplies included protective gowns, gloves, facemasks and sanitizer. They were distributed in 64 countries, the ministry said.
