The Fatemiyoun Brigade, which is affiliated to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corpse, organized its first conference in the presence of some regional figures campaigning for Iranian policies.
The conference was held at Imam Reza Holy Shrine in Mashhad.
The shrine is an affiliate of the supreme guide of the Iranian revolution.
Quds Brigade uses the Fatemiyoun Brigade in advancing the agenda of the Revolutionary Guard Corpse. It acts as the corpse’s sectarian arm inside Afghanistan, especially with its members having received training in Iraq and Syria.
The brigade showed the photo of its commander for the first time during the conference, even as it concealed the identity of the commander for a long time in the past for security reasons.
The Fatemiyoun Brigade and other Iran-backed militias say they want to destroy Israel and take revenge for the killing of Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani earlier this year. The same are ideological objectives for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corpse.
The new leader of the media section of the brigade called for kicking the United States out of the Middle East.
“This will be our revenge for the killing of Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani,” the London-based al-Arab newspaper quoted the head of the media section of the brigade as saying.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury included the brigade in its list of sanctions in January 2019.
It contains a large number of Afghan émigrés and Pakistani militiamen who sought asylum in Iran.
