PARIS – Jacqueline Eustache Brinio, a member of the French Senate and the Rapporteur of the Committee on Political Islam in the Senate, thanked Tuesday Director of the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris (CEMO) Abdelrahim Ali for inviting her to a discussion on France’s new bill on Islamist separatism.
French Muslims, she said, have to respect the principles of the French Republic.
She added that the political exploitation of religion is what angers the French.
We have to prevent ideas that violate French law, Brinio said.
She noted that she had prepared a report about Islamist extremism and violence over eight months.
During those eight months, Brinio said, I interviewed 60 people.
She added that her report introduces 44 recommendations for eradicating terrorism.
These recommendations include the need for revitalizing the ideals of the French Republic and branding the Muslim Brotherhood as an enemy of the Arab and Muslim nation and the West, Brinio said.
It is the enemy of France, she added.
Brinio called on the French Senate to suspend foreign financing to the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist organizations.
France does not fight either Islam or Muslims as the Brotherhood likes to claim, Brinio said.
It is only fighting a small group that is hijacking Islam, she added.
