The Iran-backed Houthi militia keeps implementing its strategy for controlling Yemen and its resources.
On January 5, the militia expanded its spying operations on the Yemeni people. It installed new spying technologies to the Yemeni communications network under supervision from Iranian engineers.
Spying equipment
Communications engineers in the Yemeni capital told the Yemeni newspaper Okaz that the Houthis had installed a spying program to the communications network in order to monitor the movement of citizens in the areas controlled by them.
The same engineers said the Houthis had been spying on Yemenis for a long time now which caused suffering to citizens.
This time, the spying devices are used under supervision from Iranian engineers, the Yemeni engineers told Okaz.
They revealed that the Houthi are also watching social media, especially when it comes to some Yemeni figures.
New Yemeni government
The Houthis have been controlling the communications network in Sana’a since they overran it in 2014.
Communications engineers in the Yemeni capital warned against this. They said the fact that the Houthis are keen on spying on Yemenis shows that they are afraid of opposition to their presence.
This is especially true after the arrival of the new Yemeni government in Aden, the temporary political capital of Yemen, the engineers said.
The Houthis stepped up their terrorist attacks following the arrival of the government in Aden.
