Iran’s mullahs are counting the days, waiting eagerly for Donald Trump to get out of the White House.
Iranian-American relations deteriorated dramatically under Trump whose administration was close to staging airstrikes against the Islamic Republic more than one time during his four-year term.
There are fears that Trump will order an airstrike against Iran during the remaining days of his tenure.
Relations between Iran and Israel are also deteriorating. However, there is belief that Israel cannot take a decision to attack Iran without coordination with or approval from the United States.
Some observers rule out the possibility of a US airstrike against Iran in Trump’s remaining days in power.
However, others believe that this possibility is still there.
There is also belief that Iran will not be a top foreign policy priority for Joe Biden when it assumes power later this month.
Biden will most likely be busy addressing internal problems and issues, especially in the first period of his presidency.
Israel too will not likely seek opening a frontline with Israel in the coming period.
The Israeli army is now in high alert, against the background of fears from a misunderstanding that can increase tensions in the region.
This comes at a time Israel also faces tensions on the Lebanese front.
