A new study has come to throw light on Iranian support to the Houthi militia in Yemen since the founding of the militia.
The study is considered an important document on Iran’s strategic goals in Yemen.
The study was published recently in the Iran Foreign Policy magazine, a quarterly publication released by Imam Hossein University, which is affiliated to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corpse.
The study contains the views of 15 Iranian officials and experts.
It focuses on Iranian support to the Houthi militia. This support, it says, includes political support, humanitarian support, media support, scientific support, cultural support, religious support and economic support.
Political support tools
The study says the Houthi office in Iranian capital Tehran is one of the most important political support tools to the Yemeni militia.
It adds that Iran also offers support to the militia in regional and international forums, especially in the United Nations Security Council.
Iran, it says, also tries to establish communication channels between the Houthis and Russia, Syria, Pakistan, Iraq and China. It adds that Iran mediates so that these countries open Houthi representation offices in them.
Humanitarian support
The study says Iran also reaches out to rights groups around the world to portray Yemenis as a people whose rights are violated by Saudi Arabia and its allies.
Iran also offers legal consultations for rights groups working in Yemen, the study says.
It adds that Iran also sends aid shipments to Yemen in its bid to break the blockade imposed on the country.
