Yemen’s new cabinet standing up against Houthi terrorism

The first meeting of the Yemeni government in the southern Yemeni city of Aden received applause from local and international circles.

The meeting took place on December 31, a short time after Aden Airport was attacked. It sent a clear message to the Houthi militia and other terrorist groups in Yemen that the Riyadh Agreement would be implemented, regardless of the challenges it would face on the road.

New attack

Aden Airport was attacked with rockets on December 30, only minutes after the plane carrying the members of the Yemeni government touched down at the airport.

The attack aimed to kill the members of the government which was formed in the light of the Riyadh Agreement and welcomed by the international community.

The government is made up of 24 ministers and headed by Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed.

It arrived in Aden, its temporary seat, after its members swore the oath of office in front of Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi who has been living in Saudi Arabia for several years now.

Hopes

Yemenis have been hoping that the government will be able to carry out its mission and improve living conditions in a country that has been suffering for a long time now. Yemen is now facing the danger of famine.

However, the attack on Aden Airport invited Yemenis attention to the fact that their country is still far away from getting out of its crisis.
