The Libyan National Army (LNA), which is commanded by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, works hard to fight terrorist organizations and groups backed by Turkey in different parts of Libya.
This is especially true after the LNA reached an agreement that promises to rid Libyan capital Tripoli of the violence in which it has been mired for over ten years now.
Ubari operation
The LNA declared recently the details of its latest operation on terrorist hideouts in the southwestern oasis of Ubari.
Head of the LNA’s Morale Affairs Section Gen. Khaled al-Mahjoub revealed that special combat units had raided the hideouts of terrorists in Ubari.
He added that LNA troops also blew up an arms and explosives warehouse in the oasis. The warehouse, he said, was used in supplying the terrorists with the military supplies they needed.
Gen. al-Mahjoub noted that the terrorists were trying to redeploy in the area and create a new concentration point for them in it.
The operation compounded efforts that made by the LNA for three months, he said.
He added that seven terrorists had been arrested during the operation, along with the discovery of a site for logistical support in southern Libya.
Gen. al-Mahjoub said the LNA would maintain its fight against terrorist organizations across Libya.
He said the operations had targeted a top terror leader codenamed Abu Omar.
Abu Omar is an outstanding leader of the Islamic State group which overran the northeastern Libyan city of Sirte in 2015.
