The makers of the TV serial “Choice II” have decided to broaden the base of serial viewers by adding English subtitles to the work.
Extremely important
The serial, which is aired on a number of television channels during the ongoing Islamic month of Ramadan, is extremely important because it tackles the dispersal of the Muslim Brotherhood’s sit-in on Raba’a al-Adawiya Square in Cairo and the al-Nahda Square in Giza.
The Brotherhood brought its members together on these two squares to lobby for the return of Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi to power.
After the dispersal, the Brotherhood worked tooth and nail to turn the event into a rallying point against the Egyptian state, exaggerating deaths and injuries among those participating in the sit-ins.
However, Choice II is refuting all these claims, giving viewers insights into what really happened when policemen approached the two sit-ins to disperse them.
The makers of the serial are keen on adding English subtitles to the different scenes. They are also broadcasting some scenes for the first time, showing Brotherhood members carrying arms and shooting at police. This belies Brotherhood claims that the sit-ins were peaceful in nature.
In this, the serial complements efforts by Egyptian state institutions, especially the Foreign Ministry, in showing the world the reality of the Muslim Brotherhood and the 2013 events in the face of the Muslim Brotherhood’s narrative.
Brotherhood reacting
The Muslim Brotherhood is launching into unstoppable criticism of the serial, apparently realizing the role this work of drama will play in uncovering its lies.
The Islamist organization is accusing the makers of the serial of being paid by state institutions.
The Brotherhood’s campaign against the serial is mainly launched on social media where its activists criticize the work scene by scene.
