The Algerian army has described Rachad and the Movement for the Self-determination of Kabyli, two separatist movements in Algeria, as “terrorist”.
It said some criminals and saboteurs incite employees in some sectors to stage strikes and demand rights, something that aims to sabotage the next general elections.
The Algerian army accused the two movements in the new edition of its magazine of receiving support from outside parties with the aim of destabilizing Algeria.
The army also accused Rachad, which is affiliated with Muslim Brotherhood in Algeria, of being a treacherous movement.
It said the Algerian people and army would stand against what it called the “conspiracies” of the movement.
It said Rachad works to influence ordinary Algerians, using religion and promoting separatist ideas.
The army expected Algeria’s cultural diversity and tolerance to foil attempts by the two movements.
This diversity, it said, is the source of strength for Algeria and its people.
It said although Rachad is Islamist in nature, it cooperates with secular movements in Algeria with the aim of serving its own agenda.
The Algerian army also accused the two movements of collaborating with Algeria’s enemies to sow the seeds of unrest in Algeria.
It said the two movements recruit mercenaries and offer training to “traitors” in the buildup for terrorist operations in different parts of Algeria.
