Ottoman Empire was defeated overwhelmingly in World War1 (WW1) by the allied powers in 1919, but Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared to have dismissed this fact in order to accomplish flimsy dreams which cannot be materialized on the real ground.
Erdogan’s aspiration to be a leader as he dreams will definitely collapse when he knows that region’s countries realize his greed in the Middle East.
For those who don’t know Turkey’s history that is:
Following the defeat of the sick man of Europe, The Ottoman Empire acquiesced to the allied powers’ demands which stripped the empire of all Arab territories under the rule of ottoman sultan.
According to the Treaty of Sèvres in 1920, the empire lost all its Arab and European territories except a small area around Constantinople (now Istanbul).
Agreeing on the treaty, the collapsed empire-turned-a state (Turkey), yielded humiliatingly to the allied powers’ conditions according to the 1923 accord of Lausanne which was a completion of Sèvres Treaty.
The victorious alliance represented by Great Britain, France and Italy divided the Ottoman territories into a sphere of influence.
Britain seized control of Iraq, Jordan and Palestine while France annexed Lebanon and Syria to its colony.
In Africa Turkey relinquished Egypt, Sudan and Libya where it was occupied by Italy in 1912.
