Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla met Monday with Andy Hopwood, chief operating officer of strategy & regions at British Petroleum, to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt, atop of which a project to turn the Arab country into a regional hub of oil and gas trade.
The meeting took up BP vision to pump new investments into projects in Egypt with the aim to increase local production of oil, the minister said in a statement.
Molla and Hopwood also discussed progress achieved in projects implemented by BP in the Gulf of Suez, Nile Delta and Mediterranean regions.
Hopwood said BP is implementing some of its most important investment projects in Egypt.
He cited projects in northern Alexandria, and western Delta.
Those and other projects have been implemented with the full support of the political leadership in Egypt, Hopwood said. (MENA)
