Anonymous assailants shot to death on Tueday the Saudi Preacher Abdel aziz Bin Saleh Al-Tuwaijri in Guinea near the Mali borders. The incident triggered a state of controversy in the impoverished African State.
Al-Tuwaijri was among a preaching and charity mission to build mosques in the remote villages located in east of Guinea, close to Mali borders.
Al-Tuwaijri was fatally shot twice on the chest by assailants who drove a motor bike to escape the scene. The incident took place in a village called Kantebalandougou.
Local sources reported that Al-Tuwaijri gave a speech on Tuesday that upset some of the locals who lied later in an ambush to kill him.
The religious establishments in Saudi Arabia started to approach Guinea in the last decade through World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), an international Islamic educational organization provides Muslim Youth worldwide with knowledge and workshops in order to withstand modern society challenges.
Guinean Minister of religious affairs “Moussa Sali” praised in March 2015 the role played by WAMY to protect Muslim Youth from extremism.
Worthy of attention that the attack is not the first of its kind against Muslim Preachers in African or Asian countries, in August two Kuwaiti Preachers were killed in Burkina Faso. Also prominent Saudi cleric Aid al-Qarni was wounded by a gun shot in March 2016 in the Philippines.
