Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said on Monday Arab governments only pay 50 percent of their due financial shares to the budget of the pan-Arab body.
The budget of the Arab League and its affiliated bodies is estimated at 100 million dollars but Arab countries are not paying their shares in full, Abul Gheit said at the first conference highlighting the accomplishments of Arab joint action institutions.
The conference kicked off here earlier in the day under his sponsorship.
In 2017, Arab members only paid 48% of their shares to the pan-Arab body budget which made it very hard for the Arab organization to carry out its humanitarian activities, he added.
Abul Gheit urged Arab countries to fully pay their financial dues to enable the Arab League to address current challenges.
Meanwhile, the Arab League chief said today’s conference is an attempt to shed light on efforts exerted by several Arab action institutions to face problems in the Arab world. (MENA)
