Antiquities Minister Khaled al Anani said that the Grand Egyptian Museum will be fully opened in 2022.
According to the set timetable, the second phase of the museum is expected to be finalized in 2020 and about 54 artifacts will be transferred to it, he noted.
In a report released by the “Story of homeland” Conference, the Antiquates ministry said that the restoration project of Khufu Second Boat will be finished and displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum in April 2022
Eissa Zeidan, the director of the project’s restoration department told MENA on Saturday that unearthing and restoring Khufu Second Boat is an Egyptian -Japanese project, is being implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities in cooperation with Japanese Higashi Nippon International University.
So far, 860 timbers have been restored while 606 others have been moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum, Mamdouh Taha, the supervisor of the restoration of King Khufu’s second boat project noted. (MENA)
