Minister of State for Immigration Nabila Makram called on all Egyptians living abroad to cast their votes in the coming presidential polls, to take place in late March.
Taking part in presidential elections is a national responsibility, she said at a press conference at the Immigration Ministry’s headquarters.
Addressing the Egyptian expats, Makram said “You are the ambassadors of your country abroad and as you have rights you have also duties and among these duties is to take part in the elections, she added.
Some 139 elections headquarters were prepared in 124 world states for Egypt’s 2018 presidential elections.
On Friday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced his intention to run for a second term.
Other presidential hopefuls are human rights lawyer Khaled Ali, Zamalek club chairman and parliament member Mortada Mansour and former Army Chief-of-Staff Sami Anan.
According to the new Constitution, the Egyptian president can serve for a maximum of two four-year terms. (MENA)
