MP Amr Sidqi, a member of the Economic Committee of the Parliament and a member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies, said that the launch of the Holy Family’s journey by the Ministry of Tourism was a good start to attract the religious tourism, but the preparations were not as required, revealing parliamentary efforts to exploit the event better.
In a special statement, Sidqi said that the Pope blessing for the complete trip was a good start. A group of parliamentarians decided to assign each province’s MP through which the path would be carried out by creating an integrated strategic logistics vision to transform the area that includes the religious shrine into an integrated tourist area.
They also showed that this logistics vision will provide employment opportunities for the youth of the province which increase and maximize the national income.
This vision will be presented to the Governor of the region and the investors to participate in a developmental renaissance that transforms whole Egypt to a tourist country.
He added: “We have extensive external contacts with the parliaments of the world. We will present our projects to open the door for foreign investors to participate in the projects, which will carry out in Sharqia, Beheira, Cairo and Upper Assuit governorates.
A parliamentary delegation will also present the opportunities on the Pope, after the start of development, and project-building. In this strategic vision, the projects can be offered opportunities for young people to establish Small and Medium Enterprises that provide a distinctive service to tourists in the different provinces.
Sadeqi stressed that advertising and marketing are important mechanisms in the tourism industry, but also the infrastructure and service provided to the tourist are no less important.
He noted that the German tourists, which reached in Egypt during 2017 were a large number as they were up to one million tourists, so we need to be attention to our great arrangements to leave a good impression for tourists.
On the subject of Egypt’s lack of economic impact despite the large tourist numbers announced by the Ministry of Tourism, the MP pointed out that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) classifies all those who left their houses and traveled 80 km as a “tourist”.
He also said the WTO classifies the Egyptians who have another citizenship as tourists too, this lead to the increase of the numbers of tourists, but this kind of Tourism does not have a positive impact on the economy.
The MP expresses his happiness for appointing Dr. Rania Almashat, as minister of tourism, as she has a broad economic background so she will be more familiar with numbers and accurate calculations which will help her to solve the problems.
He pointed out the differences between the “marketing” in the past and nowadays. He explained that Egypt has enormous Capabilities and new laws that encourage investment.
