Egypt will host the Seamless North Africa conference, which runs from February 6 to 7 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Central Bank of Egypt said in a statement on Friday.
CBE Governor Tareq Amer will inaugurate the financial technology conference, which is expected to bring together a number of ministers and bankers, the statement added.
The two-day conference is organized in collaboration with the Council Of Arab Economic Unity, the Arab League and the Arab Federation for e-Commerce.
It will focus on three subjects; financial technology, payment systems and e-commerce, the statement read.
The conference comes within the framework of Egypt’s keenness on keeping abreast of the latest global financial technologies, the statement said.
It will also discuss means of transforming Egypt into the upcoming international innovative hub and the future of fintech in Egypt, the statement said.
About 500 high-profile figures and 50 global financial technology experts, as well as a wide range of companies offering state-of-the-art innovative financial technologies worldwide will take part in the conference, the statement said.
The conference is a new starting point for applying the financial technologies to the Egyptian market, Amer said.
The financial technologies (FinTech or fintech) are fast, easy to use and low-cost compared to traditional financial services, Amer added.
The conference aims to lure more key players in the field of innovative and emerging financial technology, which comprises business accelerators and business incubators, in addition to capital, to create an integrated system based on the applications of financial technology, Amer stressed. (MENA)
