Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdi Sanad Loza will take part in the fourth conference of the leaders of the G5 Sahel bloc to be held Tuesday in Niger.
Before heading to Niamey on Monday, Loza said that Egypt’s participation in the activities of the conference comes within the framework of the historic ties binding it with the bloc which groups Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Mauritania.
The diplomat further pointed out to the visit paid by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Chad in August as well as Egypt’s efforts in combating terrorism in cooperation with the five countries besides its keenness on backing the ongoing peace endeavors in Mali.
In light of the cooperation between Egypt and the bloc countries in various fields, Egypt has provided training programs to the cadres of the Sahel countries via the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) affiliated to the Foreign Ministry and Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding besides offering them food and medical assistance, Loza affirmed.
