British trade envoy Sir Jeffrey Donaldson arrived here late on Saturday on a five-day visit to Egypt, leading a big trade delegation.
This is the biggest trade delegation to visit Egypt in two decades.
The visit will focus on sectors of petroleum, gas, education, infrastructure and health, according to a press statement by the British embassy in Cairo.
The delegation includes 33 companies affiliated with the Scottish Development International agency, 6 companies from Energy Industries Council, 14 companies from the sector of transport and health care and 4 companies from the education sector.
The delegation also includes companies that are already investing in Egypt and others willing to invest in Egypt for the first time.
Donaldson is to meet with Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tareq Qabil, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Health Ahmed Emadeldin, Minister of Education Tareq Shawqi, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Transport Hisham Barakat.
Donaldson said Egypt and Britain are working on strengthening their commercial ties.
Meanwhile, British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson said Britain supports the recent economic reforms applied in Egypt.
Britain is the biggest foreign investor in Egypt, according to the British embassy here. (MENA)
