Labeviere highlights challenges to defining terrorism

French journalist, Richard Labeviere, highlighted today difficulties to reaching a definition of terrorism in the absence of specific geographic and economic frameworks.

He said at a seminar in Munich, Germany, on terrorism financing and the role the state of Qatar plays in this financing that terrorist groups are present everywhere, including in Syria, Iraq and the deserts of Sinai.

There is a strong relation, Labeviere said, between Jihad and terrorism.

He called for tackling this relationship in future conferences and gatherings on terrorism.

Organized by the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris, the seminar is held on the sidelines of the Security Conference in Munich.

It has specified the hastag: Stop Qatar’s funding of terrorism, to raise awareness about the role played by the Gulf state in this regard.
