US banks can uncover funding to terrorism, says French journalist

French journalist, Richard Labeviere, said today that US banks are capable of tracing amounts of money sent to terrorist groups everywhere.

It is not easy, however, he added, to determine the countries sending this money to these groups.

He noted at a seminar in Munich, Germany, on terrorism financing and the role the state of Qatar plays in this financing that some terrorist organizations establish companies with the only aim of taking them as a front for their terrorist activities and operations.

The same companies invest funds sent to them also to make it difficult for anybody to know the sources of terrorism funding.

Organized by the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris, the seminar is held on the sidelines of the Security Conference in Munich.

It has specified the hastag: Stop Qatar’s funding of terrorism, to raise awareness about the role played by the Gulf state in this regard.
