Head of the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris and Chairman of the Board of al-Bawaba News, Abdel Rahim Ali, said today that Qatar took several steps in the past years on the road to spreading terrorism.
He added at a seminar in Munich, Germany, on terrorism financing and the role the state of Qatar plays in this financing that these steps included the founding of the news channel al-Jazeera and also the International Federation for Muslim Scholars.
The federation was founded, he said, with the aim of presenting edicts to the western world in a bid to trim the influence of al-Azhar, the highest seat of Sunni Islamic world.
He noted that one of the most important edicts issued by the federation was for sanctioning the marriage of non-Muslim western men and Muslim women.
Ali said that Qatar also drafted what came to be known as the “Renaissance Project”, which aimed to implement a foreign agenda in Arab states.
It also established the Academy for Change which was headed by Hesham al-Qaradawi, a son of Islamic scholar Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi, Ali said.
He added that Qatar launched the Islamic-American dialogue with the aim of replacing leaderships in the Arab world with leaderships from the Muslim Brotherhood.
Organized by the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris, the seminar is held on the sidelines of the Security Conference in Munich.
It has specified the hastag: Stop Qatar’s funding of terrorism, to raise awareness about the role played by the Gulf state in this regard.
