Qatar bought rocket launchers for insurgents, says French journalist

French journalist Othman Tazaghart said today that for the first time in decades the financing of terrorism has turned into an official policy for some states.

In some countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Tazaghart added, some people financed terrorist organizations, mistaking them for charity organizations.

He added at a seminar in Munich, Germany, on terrorism financing and the role the state of Qatar plays in this financing that some of these organizations channeled the funds they received outside these countries.

Some countries offered political backing to insurgency in some countries only to offer funding to this insurgency, Tazaghart said.

Qatar used its money, he said, in buying rocket launchers to insurgents in some countries.

Organized by the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris, the seminar is held on the sidelines of the Security Conference in Munich.

It has specified the hastag: Stop Qatar’s funding of terrorism, to raise awareness about the role played by the Gulf state in this regard.
