Libyan army forces took control of the coastal city of Derna after driving out Al Qaeda militants from their posts, Sky News channel reported on Wednesday.
The channel aired video footage showing the Libyan army’s full control of the city after purging it from Al Qaeda militias.
Spokesman for the Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna and the leader of Ansar Al Sharia armed group are among those who are still hiding in the city following clashes with the Libyan army troops, senior military sources said.
