The Arab League has asserted that it gives top priority to the issue of child labor as part of its comprehensive vision to take more care of Arab children under its “Investment in Childhood 2030” adopted banner.
Director of the women and children department at the pan-Arab organization Inas Mekkawi said in a statement Tuesday that the league will spare no effort to cooperate with regional and international organizations to put an end to the child labor phenomenon in order to enable the children to have their basic rights secured including their rights to education, nourishment, training and development and physical protection.
She pointed out that being recruited in armed struggles and wars is the worst problem that children could face, along with falling prey to human trafficking and sexual abuse.
The Arab League official said cooperation has been fostered with regional and international organizations such as the International labor Organization, the Arab Labor Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization to serve children’s best interests, fulfill their rights and improve their living conditions.
