The Syrian army restored the villages of Duma, Araja, Kasib and Tal Basir in northeastern As Suwayda countryside only hours after Daesh seized them.
In statements to the Russian news agency Sputnik, a Syrian field source said a large number of Daesh elements were killed during the restoration of Duma and Araja villages.
The army restored Tal Basir with people’s help, the source said.
Meanwhile, Syrian authorities managed to eliminate the attackers before they “blew themselves up” in an attack in the city of As Swuayda near the border with Jordan.
The death toll from an explosion in Syria’s As Suwayda rose from 30 to 38, a police source told Sputnik on Wednesday.
“More than 38 people died and 30 are wounded as a result of the detonation of an explosive device in the city of As Suwayda and the attack of Daesh militants in the east of the province,” the source said.
A terrorist attack in the city of As Suwayda in the south of Syria left 30 people dead, a police source told Sputnik Wednesday. An explosion occurred near the market in the city of As Suwayda, Syrian media reported earlier in the day.
“Thirty people are dead and [there are] wounded as a result of… [a terrorist attack] in the province of As Suwayda in the south of Syria,” the source said.
Syria has been engulfed in a civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting numerous opposition factions and terrorist groups. The international community has taken a number of steps aimed at settling the crisis, including through negotiations in Geneva and Astana, as well as the Syrian National Dialogue Congress which took place in the Russian city of Sochi in January.
