The Cairo Criminal Court gave on Tuesday its final verdict in the case of El Khasous security checkpoint, sentencing six defendants to death and two others to life in jail.
The court also sentenced a minor to 15 years in prison.
Three defendants were sentenced to five-year and three-year prison terms.
On June 27, the Cairo Criminal Court referred papers of the six defendants to Egypt’s Mufti before sentencing them to death.
The six persons, who are implicated in carrying out the attack on a security checkpoint in Qalyoubia’s El-Khasous city, remained in custody till the mufti gave his opinion regarding the death penalty.
