A Libyan source revealed that delegations from the city of Misrata went to the leaders of the Libyan army, in order to negotiate the entry of their troops to the city peacefully.
The source said, in a statement to the Reference that Marshal Khalifa Hafter, commander of the Libyan army, set a condition to cooperate with the delegations in Misrata, and extradite all terrorists who seek destruction in Libya.
The source confirmed that the conference, held in the municipality of Jikhara on 16 and 17 September, was composed of all Libyan tribes from the east and west, without any outside interference, under the auspices of the Libyan Armed Forces, led by Marshal Khalifa Hafter.
The source pointed out that the Libyan tribes conference is “the fall of the government of Fayez Al-Sarraj”, describing the Libyan Reconciliation Government, headed by Al-Sarraj as worthless.
► Tribal uprising:
On 16 and 17 September, the Jikhara conference was held, less than a week after the Tarhuna conference which was held under the title of, “All for Libya”, in the municipality of Jikhara with the participation of all Libyan delegations in the western, eastern and southern regions.
On the first day, the delegation confirmed the Libyan territorial unit supported the General Command of the Army led by Marshal Khalifa Hafter and hastened to take decisions that would take the country out of the political crisis it has suffered since the Libyan revolution in 2011.
► Conference Recommendations:
On Monday, the participants at the Libyan tribes conference in Jikhara made several recommendations to help solve the crises and the deteriorating conditions reached by the country. The most prominent of these recommendations are the unification and support of the military establishment and the security services, activating the judiciary and rejecting all terrorist formations outside the framework of the Libyan armed forces.
They also called on the Security Council and the United Nations to lift the arms embargo on the Libyan national army and stressed the need to unify the public and sovereign institutions of the Libyan state and to hold parliamentary and presidential elections in accordance with the Paris agreement.
The participants pointed to the need for a referendum on the constitution, but after reconsidering the draft and taking into account all the comments from the relevant committees of the parliament, demanding social justice between the regions, and stressing the return of the displaced and activating Law No. 6 of 2015 on amnesty.
The sheikhs and dignitaries concluded their recommendations by proposing the formation of a council under the name of the “Senate of Libya” to follow up on the recommendations made at the conference.
It also reminded that in the event of non-implementation of the recommendations of the conference they will resort to public demonstrations and civil disobedience in all Libyan cities.
