The Houthi militia turned Wednesday a number of hotels and buildings in the western Yemeni province of al-Hudaidah into military barracks.
In this, the Iran-backed militia is copying the terrorist Daesh organization which worked to change the nature of life in all the areas it overran in Iraq and Syria. It also imitates the actions of Taliban in Afghanistan.
This is yet a new crime by the Houthi militia, the Yemeni army said in a statement. The Houthis are committing this crime at a time military operations backed by the Arab coalition move ahead in Hudaidah.
It said advancing forces would work to lay a siege around the province and occupy uninhabited areas in order to prevent the Houthis from turning civilians into human shields.
Arab coalition spokesman Col. Maliki said in a previous statement that the Houthis work to sabotage operations by the coalition by turning civilians into human shields.
They know that coalition troops do not open fire on civilians, he said.
Yemeni political analyst Ayman al-Ashoul said, meanwhile, that the Arab coalition works to isolate the Houthis by liberating the western province.
The Arab coalition, he added, wants to cut off supply lines, through which the Houthis get Iranian arms.
Al-Ashoul told The Reference that these operations are being carried out by joint Yemeni troops with support from the Arab coalition.
“The Houthis brace for an inevitable defeat,” al-Ashoul said.
He said the Houthis were especially scarred by the ability of the Arab coalition to take control of al-Hudaidah Port, an important maritime outlet for them.
