In the midst of his talk about the city during the media campaign ahead of the last municipal elections, Recep Tayyib Erdogan wanted to ensure that his ruling party (AKP) controlled the big city at all costs. However, Akram Emamoglu, the Republican Party candidate (Opposition), beat Ali Yildirim, the former prime minister and Erdogan’s candidate.
The losers brag
Erdogan has tried in various ways to stop the handover of the imam to the local government of Istanbul, where he filed complaints against the counting process, objected to the results of more than 20 electoral commissions, and the arrogance and political bullying of the Turkish regime.
Ali Ihsan Yavuz, Vice President of the Justice and Development Party, said that his party has a majority in the parliament, and will make a legislative amendment to the law of the Turkish elections, allowing the filing of a criminal complaint against the fraudsters in the local elections, according to the Turkish newspaper Harriet.
Yavuz said that two-thirds of those polled during the last municipal elections in Turkey were not formally selected by civil servants and that they had discovered 12 members associated with Fathallah Gulen, the opposition cleric, which Yavuz considered to be fraudulent during the last elections, raising the question of why Erdogan is holding that city alone.
Corruption of the Erdogan family
The most prominent reasons for Erdogan’s adherence to his great love of Istanbul is the fear of corruption charges against his sons Sumaya, Israa and Bilal after they were involved in several robberies and looting inside Turkey’s most prominent municipality, exploiting the control of his father and his party since 1994.
Among the corrupts is Bilal Erdogan’s control of the only private restaurant at Istanbul’s new airport, a brand called Duruk Izgarh or Gulhana of Shawarma, in cooperation with three partners, his sister Sumaya, Mustafa Esnakal, Siddiq Bilal in high school and Ali Bahadirishil who is a friend of Erdogan.
Bilal invests 543,000 liras in the restaurant, while his sister paid 450,000 liras, Mustafa Esnakal paid 337,500 liras and 196,000 liras, according to the Turkish newspaper Berjun, which reported that the restaurant, although offering delicious meals.
Erdoğan received 41.5 million Turkish liras by the Istanbul Municipality, just before the last municipal elections, in order to help stop the Youth Service and Education in Turkey, which is considered a member of its board of directors. The waqf (Endowments Authority) also received 847.5 million Turkish liras by the Turkish Endowments Authority during the past year.
The Istanbul municipality also supported the Ansar-owned association of Erdoğan in the amount of 28.7 million Turkish liras. It was also granted several religious endowments after its removal from Fathallah Gulen, against the backdrop of the fake military coup organized by Erdogan.
