Iran works hard to exploit a recent European announcement about the creation of a barter-trading mechanism that helps Tehran circumvent the US sanctions on it in reducing pressure on its mullahs’ regime.
Tehran plans to surpass the low-enriched uranium limit stipulated in the 2015 nuclear accord with major powers, according to the official Iranian news agency, Fars, which quoted informed Iranian sources on June 29.
US sanctions
Iran says its decision to go beyond the limit aims to protect it against US sanctions on it. Nonetheless, this will be the first Iranian violation of the 2015 deal. This violation will bring Iran back to dubious uranium-enrichment activities yet again.
On June 29, US President Donald Trump said at a press briefing in Osaka, Japan, that he would consider appropriate action against Iran if it surpasses the uranium-enrichment level allowed by the 2015 accord.
Trump added that he would not allow Iran possess a nuclear weapon.
He noted that the Iranian regime wants to start negotiations with his administration on a new deal.
Trump added that he hopes not be obliged to use force against Iran.
On June 28, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said following a meeting with representatives of European states in Vienna that these states had not done enough for his country.
He added that success by European states to help his country circumvent the US sanctions might induce Iran from surpassing the uranium-enrichment level stipulated in the 2015 nuclear deal.
