Mohamed Abdel-Ghaffar
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan seeks to establish an Ottoman Empire with the help of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, which he strongly supported until it reached power in Egypt in 2012.
The popular June 30 revolution broke Erdoğan’s aspirations, therefore, he sought to use Muslim Brotherhood members who are still in Egypt or those who fled to Turkey by granting them several privileges like launching satellite channels to sow discord and sedition among Egyptians.
However, on Feb 6, 2019, an Egyptian citizen sentenced to death in Egypt was deported back to Cairo after Turkish airport authorities found that he held a forged visa, according to Yasin Aktay, a senior adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mohamed Abdelhafiz Ahmed Hussein, also known as Mohamed Abdelhafiz, was sentenced to death in absentia in July 2017 on charges of receiving militant training in the Gaza Strip as part of an alleged plot to murder Egypt’s former Attorney-General Hisham Barakat.
The incident caused many fears among members of the terrorist group in Turkey. They felt that the deportation of Abdul Hafiz was just the beginning of a change of heart by Turkish authorities and that they will be deported one by one to Egypt or other countries.
With the regime’s ruling AKP fearing the loss of support for the fugitive Brotherhood terrorists, who conspired against their homeland to serve the hopes and aspirations of Erdoğan in building his alleged empire, the Turkish regime granted dozens of Muslim Brotherhood members the Turkish citizenship, as a guarantee that they will not be deported back to their countries.
This way, the Turkish regime helped solve a major crisis that faced members of the terrorist group who fled to Turkey, as their passports expired and they could not go to the Egyptian embassy and consulates there to renew them.
According to several press reports, the Justice and Development Party has granted Turkish nationalities to 800 Muslim Brotherhood leaders who fled to Turkey, and the door is still open for more people to join the list.
Not only does the Justice and Development party seek to reassure the Muslim Brotherhood, but it aims to exploit these individuals as a new voting bloc to be added to the party during the upcoming elections, especially after the recent loss of municipal elections in March.
