The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Saturday leader of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, along with 10 other group members, to life in prison after their retrial on charges of prison break, attacking security facilities and killing policemen following the January 25, 2011 Revolution.
The court also sentenced eight defendants to 15 years in jail, while nine others have been acquitted.
Investigations revealed that the defendants escaped from prison in January 2011 in collaboration with elements of Palestinian movement Hamas, the Lebanese Hezbollah group, the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
The defendants are indicted for being behind the murder of 32 police personnel at Abu Zaabal prison, 14 inmates at Wadi el Natroun prison and one at El Marg jail.
They are also accused of assisting 20,000 prisoners to escape prison in addition to abducting four policemen tasked with guarding borders and taking them to the Gaza Strip.
