Saudi Arabia said on September 18 that Iran was involved in an attack on its oil facilities, citing the recent attack on Aramco, pointing out that Iranian Delta Wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and “Ya Ali” cruise missiles were used in the attack.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards made Ya Ali missiles with a range of 700 km. Iran and the Houthis denied any involvement in the attack on Aramco. However, it has been proven that Iranian arms had been used.
Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Guards’ aerospace division, said the cruise missiles could be fired from ground bases and planes as well. The missiles include Qader with a range of 200 km, and another one with a longer range of 300 km.
Earlier this year, Iran unveiled a surface-to-surface missile named Hoveyzeh with a range of more than 1,350 kilometers, the semi-official Tasnim news agency said. The Iranian Defense Ministry considers the production of Hoveyzeh is a key step for the development of its forces.
The Iranian Defense Ministry said it is now self-sufficient in missiles, drones, radars and tanks.
The Houthi militias in Yemen bank on Iran’s huge arsenal of missiles and weapons.
In July, the Houthi militias said during a military fair in Sanaa that the militias have produced new missiles and drones.
Defense Minister Major-General Mohammed, Nasser Al-Atefi of the pro-Houthi government, which is not internationally recognized, said the Yemeni armed forces had reached an advanced phase in the military industries.
Al-Atefi added that the weapons were successfully tested.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for an attack on Aramco in May. In July, the Houthis attacked Abha airport.
