Egypt has reiterated its complete rejection of Turkey’s aggression on Syria, labeling the Turkish military operations as a violation of international law. Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry has been on a shuttle mission aimed at putting an end to the Turkish aggression on Syria, which is a member country of the United Nations and the Arab League.
On Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Egypt is “following with deep indignation and concern” the continued Turkish aggression on Syrian territories, where dozens were killed and tens of thousands of people were displaced.
Egypt has also praised the European Union for what it described as its “clear stance that affirms [its] rejection and condemnation of the Turkish attacks,” according a statement issued by the foreign ministry.
Meanwhile, Egypt said it was pleased with US President Donald Trump’s stance on Turkey’s aggression on Syria. The US president threatened a set of sanctions against Turkey.
In the same vein, FM Shoukry has visited a number of European countries such as Croatia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Austria. Shoukry has condemned the Turkish aggression on Syria during his visit to Croatia.
Shoukry held talks with Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and other officials.
Shoukry also visited Lithuania, where he met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Linas Linkevicius. Shoukry has reiterated Egypt’s rejection of the Turkish aggression during the visit.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said Shoukry had stated Egypt’s complete rejection of the Turkish regime’s aggression on Syria, describing it as a serious violation of the principles of the international law and UN Resolution 2254.
