Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge said the appointment of Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali as the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is an acknowledgement of Egypt’s effective role on the world stage and shows appreciation of her efforts in favor of human rights.
In a statement on Sunday, Mamdouh Abbas, the foundation’s president, pointed out that Wali’s selection for such prestigious post is well deserved.
On Thursday, United Nations Secretary‑General António Guterres announced the appointment of Wali as the next Executive Director of the UNODC. She will also serve as Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV).
