Algeria’s presidential election is being held amid a divide among the Algerian people. While some people are in favor of the election, others reject it. The presidential polls are scheduled to be held on Dec. 12.
The Movement of Society for Peace has decided to remain neutral in the upcoming polls.
Researcher Riccardo Fabiani said in a study that Algeria’s Brotherhood is divided and is unable to unite. According to him, that will reduce their chances in the presidential elections, noting that the group has lost credibility among the Algerian people.
For his part, Ibrahim Rabie, a former Brotherhood member, said the Algerian Brotherhood adopts a vague position, and that makes the political scene unclear there.
“The Movement of Society for Peace has not backed candidate Abdel Qadir bin Qrina after he split from it. He split to found a new political party, Front for Change,” Rabie told THE REFERENCE.
“The Algerian authorities consider the elections to be a safe means to get out of the current political crisis within the constitutional framework,” he said.
