International and local reports confirmed that the human rights situation in Iraq is miserable, as the Human Rights Division of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq announced its annual report on the situation of human rights in Iraq.
The report relied on accurate information; this annual report is one of the most important documents of the Iraqi scene after the occupation in revealing crimes and human rights violations suffered by the Iraqi people.
The report includes many axes, including: mass graves, arbitrary arrest and detention, enforced absence, extrajudicial executions and killings, immigration and displacement, public and press freedoms, infrastructure Services, demographic change, crackdown on demonstrators, as well as the reality of education, health, women’s and children’s rights, and general social rights.
Dr. Ayman Al-Ani, coordinator of the Association of Muslim Scholars, reviewed visual excerpts from the report, which included multiple statistics, data and classifications, in the context of his explanation of the contents of a number of major axes in it, with a clarification of the background through which the situation is described and the consequences in addition to the position of international and regional public opinion regarding the course of events in Iraq that witnessing unprecedented violations, in conjunction with the growing recent demonstrations and the high ceiling of its protests.
Member of the Commission Dr. Fatima Al-Ani, emphasized that the human rights file in Iraq is passing through its worst cases, and all groups of the Iraqi people suffer from deprivation of the most basic rights.
Fatima al-Ani, said that the Iraqi people have been subjected to violations since 2003. She pointed out that foreign interventions in Iraq affairs had begun with the beginning of the American occupation, so Iraq had become a hostage in the hands of states, and the occupation continues to this day through the political process, the current constitution, and the American military forces present in the military bases.
Al-Ani stressed that the United Nations has failed to achieve any achievement to reduce human rights violations despite the presence of a special United Nations mission in Iraq, despite international and human rights reports that monitored these violations However, the United Nations was not able to do anything but concern and regret, but it always stands with the Iraqi government.
In the same context, the United Nations has condemned the grave violations committed by all parties in Iraq, against children.
A report submitted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Security Council identified “security and peshmerga forces, the Kurdistan National Defense Forces, Yazidi forces, the international coalition, and the organization of the state”, as parties that committed violations against children in Iraq.
The report covers the time period from July 1, 2015 to July 31, 2019. It indicated that “more than 2,114 children have been subjected to grave and confirmed violations in Iraq, including children who have been killed, maimed, and raped.”
The report continued, “These numbers are partial and represent the numbers that have been reported and confirmed only.” He pointed out that “the actual numbers may be much greater, especially as conditions such as death, or social stigma, may hinder reporting of violations.”
The report documented, “Training activities in which children were involved by ISIS and summer camps organized by the PMF militia for military education and attended by children.”
The report emphasized, “Information about slave markets in which children of both sexes are sold as slaves.” He also outlined many other abuses, including the displacement of children, the use of schools as military headquarters, or as residence sites.
Tens of thousands of Iraqis were killed or injured as a result of the military operations in the country that led to the destruction of the Iraqi areas that are now afflicted.
