A tribal conference is scheduled to be hosted by the tribes of Tarhuna City, which is located 88 km southeast of Tripoli, on Feb. 19-20. The conference is aimed supporting the Libyan National Army (LNA) against the terrorist militias in Tripoli.
The Tarhuna chiefs said all Libyan tribes are welcome to take part in the national conference, which is aimed at coming up with a solution to the country’s crisis away from the international and regional efforts dealing with the crisis.
United Nations’ special envoy for Libya, Ghassan Salame, the African Union and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi have been reiterating that a solution to the Libyan crisis should be initiated by the Libyan people.
Researcher Emad Abdel Razzak has said in a recent study titled “Tribe and Balancing the Libyan Crisis”, that Libyan tribes may have the solution to the Libyan crisis.
He said in the study that the tribes are still a pillar in Libyan society, proposing a mechanism to resolve the crises. First of all these tribes should put an end to their internal conflict and tensions for the sake of the nation.
Abdel Razzak called for creating a national council for tribes and experienced politicians.
For is part, Mohamed al-Zobaidy, a Libyan political analyst, called for enhancing the role of Libyan tribes, which should have the final say in the Libyan situation.
Al-Zobaidy denounced the allegation that the foreign parties are taking the lead in the Libyan crisis, stressing that only the Libyans are paying the price.
