The Observatory for Monitoring Takfiri Fatwas and Extremist Ideologies at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta has announced that March witnessed a total of 13 terrorist operations carried out by four extremist groups, in addition to anonymous operation, across six countries. These operations injured and reaped the lives of around 273 victims.
The report indicated that Afghanistan came first with seven operations with a rate of 54% of the total operations carried out by the Taliban.
The report also said Nigeria came second with a two terrorist operations, which means around 15% of the operations. This, according to the report, represents a decrease in the number of terrorist operations, where Boko Haram carried out one terrorist operation, however, the movement remains the bloodiest in sub-Saharan Africa, and the African coast remains a major area of operations for terrorist organizations.
There have been reports of terrorist operations expanding in the Sahel and Sahara regions, particularly in Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Mali.
The statement added that the Taliban came first with regards to the most operations, as they carried out five terrorist operations, representing 38% of the total operations.
The report indicated that the movement seeks to prove that it follows a strict approach by targeting security forces in all their forms, while Daesh came in the second place with two terrorist operations. Boko Haram came in third place by one operation.
In the same context, four other terrorist operations were recorded anonymously with 31% of all operations, but this type of operations is usually taken by some organizations in order not to announce themselves at times, especially in times of retreat.
The index indicated that army and police forces were in the first rank in terms of the most targeted groups with five terrorist operations against each, with a rate of 38%, while operations that targeted civilians counted up to three operations by 23%.
