ISIS terrorists breaking out of jails in Syria

The terrorist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) intensified its operations during the Islamic month of Ramadan.

The organization’s sleeper cells took orders via social media to reappear and carry out attacks, especially in the areas lost by ISIS in the past months and years.

ISIS cells carried out over 43 attacks against the Syria army and Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD).

Most of the attacks were carried out in central Syria and in the eastern part of the country.

These attacks come as the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS says it will maintain its campaign against the terrorist organization in Syria and Iraq to prevent it from reemerging.

The coalition carried out an offensive against ISIS recently in cooperation with QSD in the eastern Syrian city of Deir ez-Zur. The operation left two ISIS commanders, including one who worked as the emir of northern Iraq, dead. The other commander was responsible for logistical support inside the organization.

Continued terrorism

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attacks carried out by ISIS in the past period ranged between bomb attacks and attacks against security and army posts in the aforementioned areas.

ISIS staged 11 attacks in areas controlled by the Syrian army, the observatory said.

It added that the organization also carried out attacks in areas controlled by QSD.

ISIS also carried out a series of executions in the areas it controls in Syria, the observatory said.

Jailbreak

ISIS also broke one of the jails controlled by QSD in the eastern Syrian city of Ar Raqqah.

This came days after the U.S.-led coalition trained QSD troops in guarding the prisons.

ISIS prisoners tried to break out of QSD jails in northern Syria several times in the past.

The media office of QSD said ISIS militants had staged an attack on parts of the central Tabaqa prison.

Seven attackers were killed during the attack and several others were injured.
