Calls are being made for putting pressure on Doha and bringing it to account, a short time after links between the Qatari regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia were revealed.
The strategy consultancy, WMP EuroCom, which is based in Berlin, played an important role in hiding facts about Qatar’s support to Hezbollah.
Michael Inacker
Michael Inacker functioned as the Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and CSR at Metro Group since February 2009.
Previously, he was deputy chief editor at the weekly business magazine Wirtschaftswoche and head of the magazine’s Berlin office.
From 2004 to 2007, Inacker was vice-president for external affairs and public policy at DaimlerChrysler.
Hiding the facts
Inacker played an important role in hiding the facts about Qatari support to Hezbollah.
In 2014, the head of WMP EuroCom said his company would not deal with human traffickers, arms dealers or drug traffickers.
This became the general policy of the company. However, this policy did not prevent the company from doing business with Qatar in the same year.
This came as Qatar violated the rights of migrant workers constructing World Cup facilities in it. Qatar also bought arms for Hezbollah and supplied the Lebanese militia with money. Hezbollah works in drug and human trafficking.
At the end of 2014, the head of WMP EuroCom said Qatar was an important client of his company.
This head was succeeded by Inacker in 2015. The new head of the company maintained strong business relations with Doha, despite accusations to it of involvement in terrorism financing and violating human rights.
