Brotherhood media outlets running into renewed scandals

Media outlets affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood try to spread false information about Egypt by faking protest scenes and airing them.

The same outlets also circulate incorrect news about the killing of “demonstrators” in clashes with policemen.

They promote illusive slogans, including the “Flowers blossoming in Egypt’s gardens” and the “Friday of Wrath”, in their attempt to repeat the events that took place in Egypt in 2011.

The Brotherhood-affiliated outlets used the same rumors in their hope of giving credibility to them and to make up for the lack of Muslim Brotherhood support on the ground in Egypt.

Egyptians, meanwhile, largely ignored the Muslim Brotherhood protest calls. This forced the TV channels and news sites affiliated to the group, including Rasd, al-Jazeera and Mekameleen, to repost or rebroadcast protest footage dating years back, especially during the mass protests that took place against the Muslim Brotherhood, within the 2013 revolution in 2013.

Lack of credibility

The Egyptian news channel, Extra News, uncovered the lies of Muslim Brotherhood media when it faked protest scenes and then sent them to al-Jazeera.

Al-Jazeera then aired the scenes claiming that they were of protests that took place in the Giza province district of Nazlet al-Siman which is located close to the Giza Plateau.

Media outlets airing from Qatar and Turkey provide new proof every day that they are there to play specific political roles, ones that mainly aim to undermine the Egyptian state.

Think tank, Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies, expected the Muslim Brotherhood to keep trying to undermine the Egyptian state over the years.

Sobhi Assila, the head of the Opinion Polls Section at the center, said everybody was pinning hopes on the ability of ordinary Egyptians to understand the deception of the Muslim Brotherhood.

“There was also confidence in the ability of state institutions to stand this new test,” he said.
