Mahmud al-Batakoshi
In the previous two parts of this series, we threw light on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s enlistment of the services of his own intelligence agency and international mafia to suppress opposition and blackmail opposition figures.
In this new episode of the same series, we will focus on Erdogan’s misuse of international police (Interpol). The Turkish president just uses the international organization in persecuting his opponents and scarring his rivals.
The Turkish regime uses lies and fabricated evidence to win Interpol over in his battles against the opposition.
Interpol arrests Turkish opposition figures and repatriates them from other countries to Turkey.
Erdogan used the organization in getting information about his opponents in three European states and determining their whereabouts.
The Turkish president’s misuse of international police has drawn condemnation from the European Union. The union accused Turkey of launching legal proceedings in cases that did not require these proceedings. It said these proceedings only aim at causing trouble to opposition figures for political reasons.
The Turkish regime also uses the security cooperation agreements Turkey signs with other countries in arresting political opponents and putting them in prison. Turkey has been doing this since 2013.
Turkey’s security agreements with other countries usually contain ambiguous phrases that aim primarily to tighten the noose on Turkish opposition figures in other countries.
These phrases throw light on Erdogan’s use of international agreements as a political suppression tool.
The Turkish regime has also unleashed its diplomatic weapons against the opposition, especially after the presumed 2016 coup attempt.
