CEMO denounces the European Parliament’s decision on Egypt, as it supports extremism and terrorism

Abd Al-Rahim Ali: The recommendations of the European Parliament were based on wrong information from suspicious organizations.

The Center for Middle East Studies in Paris (CEMO) headed by Dr. Abdel-Rahim Ali condemned the European Parliament’s decision issued on Friday, which calls for Egypt to immediately release 25 detainees in the case of Italian researcher Giulio Regeni.

CEMO said in a press statement that the European Parliament relied on false information about Egypt that it received from suspicious organizations that serve the Brotherhood’s and terrorist groups ’scheme aimed at destroying Egypt and the Middle East and spreading terrorism in Europe and the world.

Ali said that the European Parliament’s decision included 19 recommendations, most of which ignored Egyptian sovereignty, the independence and integrity of the Egyptian judiciary, and did not take into account Egypt’s standing against terrorism and extremism.

CEMO added that with regard to Regeni, the Egyptian authorities conducted a prompt, transparent and impartial investigation into the case in accordance with Egypt’s international obligations and announced the results of these investigations to the world and cooperated fully with the Italian judicial authorities in the case.

Ali called on the members of the European Parliament to communicate with the Egyptian state institutions to get closely acquainted with the reality of the situation, and Egypt, stressing that the human rights conditions have greatly improved during the era of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Ali also added that CEMO has communicated with European parliaments to explain and clarify the Egyptian vision in combating extremism, terrorism and the danger of the terrorist Brotherhood to Egypt and the world … and explain Egypt’s achievements in the field of human rights of all kinds, health, educational, social, cultural, political and others.
