French Senator Boyer: The European Union turns a blind eye to Turkey’s crimes

French Senator Valerie Boyer said that the lack of reaction from the European Union to Turkey’s interventions, as happened in the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, is a lack of foresight in light of Ankara’s crimes.

Boyer stressed that the European Union must be strict with every country that wants to enter its membership.

During the “Human Rights: Islamists Weapon to Manipulate Democracy” symposium organized by the Center for Middle East Studies in Paris, Boyer said that what binds people in France and Europe is the rule of law.

She added that the state is subject to some difficulties due to the rule of law, which is the will of the legislator, and there is oversight.

Boyer explained that there is bilateral monitoring of all legislation in France, and that is why we always have to support democracy and human rights and create a balance.

The seminar is titled “Human Rights: Islamists’ Weapon in Democracy Abuse”.

It is held against the background of exploitation by Islamists of human rights to serve their own agendas.

The seminar is moderated by CEMO Executive Director Ahmed Youssef. Other speakers include French Senator Valerie Bouillier, and French writers Yves Thréard and Roland Lombardi.
