Paper uncovers coordination between MB, ISIS over terrorist attacks in Egypt

Cairo – The London-based Al Hayat newspaper has learned that Egypt’s security bodies have “irrefutable evidence” of coordination between the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS terrorist group to carry out terrorist attacks in Egypt.

According to Al Hayat’s sources, Egypt’s security apparatus monitored a phone call between Muslim Brotherhood fugitive in Turkey Alaa El-Din El-Samahi and a senior leader of Hasm militant movement, during which they talked about coordination with ISIS terrorist group to carry out terrorist attacks and train the group’s youth on how to manufacture explosives.

The sources cited the confrontation that took place between gunmen and security bodies in Fayyoum governorate two days ago, while transferring a group of young people to receive training at an ISIS training camp in the western desert.

Former leader of Al-Jama’a Al-Islamiyya Nageh Ebrahim said the coordination between Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS started following the January, 25 revolution in 2011, leading to the emergence of several Islamist movements, such as Ajnad Misr (Soldiers of Egypt) movement.

Following the ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 and the dispersal of the Brotherhood’s sit-in camps in Rabaa and Nahda squares, a large number of the Brotherhood youth joined Takfiri groups and adopted violence as a way to oppose the Egyptian regime, he added.

MB leading figure Reda Fahmy, who is currently a fugitive in Turkey, earlier acknowledged that Hasm is affiliated to the Brotherhood group.

The MB leading figure described the terrorist attacks committed by Hasm “revolutionary acts”.

He further said: “All active movements in Egypt, atop of which is Hasm, are meant to liberate Egypt from the current political regime, which removed Brotherhood from power.”
