Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh, Ahmed al-Tayeb, at Al-Rawdaa mosque in the town of Bir al-Abd in north Sinai, which was targeted by a terrorist attack last Friday, killing 309 worshippers and injuring 128 others.
The delegation accompanying the Grand Imam, Minister of Awqaf Muhammad Mukhtar Jumaa, Mufti of the Republic Shawki Allam, Al-Azhar Deputy President Abbas Shoman, Al-Azhar University President and Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy Mohieldin Afifi.
The Al-Azhar Grand Imam is scheduled to visit a number of martyrs and wounded families to send an important message on terrorism that has claimed the lives of innocent worshipers in the mosque and to affirm the stand of the people and all institutions in the face of terrorist groups.
On Friday, 24 November, a terrorist attack targeted worshipers at the Al Rawda mosque in Bir al-Abd, in Sinai, killing about 305 martyrs and 125 injured, according to official figures issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
